This is a passion project I started in 2009 and officially launched on the 25th May 2010. The premise is to create a simultaneous dining experience across Perth’s top restaurants followed by an after party at a secret location to close off the night’s festivities.
Dine for Life is a fundraising project with many layers. First and foremost we host these events to raise funds for local charities whose voices aren’t as loudly heard as other well established and popular charities. Second, we saw a gap in the social culture of Perth during the week. All over the world and even the Eastern states, people are out in cafes, restaurants, bars Monday to Sunday. Why Perth remains so sleepy midweek was always an issue for us as we were regularly out closing off our days in a restaurant with no-one around. And lastly but as importantly, we wanted to support local business and other entrepreneurs that shared similar values to those we espoused within our own businesses and companies.
This all came to a head at the Dine for Life launch that saw us raise $12,000 for The Global Good Foundation (a WA based charity created to support those affected by domestic violence). Some amazing restaurants hosted the dinners and at the end everyone came to the after party location that was disclosed on the night. Food, wine, cocktails and a divine dessert were devoured throughout the night and the celebrations carried on well past the official close of the evening.
The next event is going to launch summer on December 1.
